Umwelten Institute

Advancing healthcare that protects dignity and supports human capacity.

Umwelten Institute builds evidence. It does not commercialize products.

A proposed nonprofit evidence-generation body. It conducts and disseminates research, education, public-interest frameworks, and evidence-based guidance on systems of support for patients, caregivers, older adults, and care teams.

Mission

To advance systems of support that protect dignity.

The Institute studies how care arrives — and how it could arrive better. Its work focuses on improving when, how, and where support reaches patients, caregivers, and care teams before strain becomes crisis.

Where the line sits
The Institute does
Conduct and publish independent research. Generate evidence and public-interest frameworks. Study when, how, and where support should arrive. Educate patients, caregivers, older adults, and care teams.
The Institute does not
Build or commercialize products. Own the SOMA Engine, Somatag, or related IP. Act as the commercial parent or Home OS company. Make claims the research has not yet established.
Relationship to the product company

Somatag and the SOMA Engine are owned and commercialized by SOMA Systems. They may be used in research contexts through properly documented relationships with the Institute — but they are not owned by the nonprofit.

The focus

Most systems can describe what care to give. Fewer can say when it should arrive, how much is enough, or where it lands best. The Institute's work concentrates on exactly that — the timing, proportion, and placement of support, studied before strain tips into crisis.

Any document describing Umwelten as the product company, commercial parent, or owner of Somatag is out of date. The Institute builds evidence; SOMA Systems builds the systems.
